Oracle VM 3 - Introduction To The Oracle VM 3 Command Line Utilities
(Doc ID 1565473.1)
Last updated on JULY 16, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle VM - Version 3.1.1 to 3.4.6 [Release OVM31 to OVM34]Linux x86-64
Purpose
The Oracle VM 3 Command-Line Utilities described here are not formally supported by Oracle, with the single exception of the ovm_vmhostd application when used by SAP customers.
Oracle Support may request that these utilities be used as part of a support action; all other customer use is not supported and problem reports on these utilities will not be accepted.
Normal operation and management of an Oracle VM cluster is performed using the Oracle VM Manager application. Customers need not concern themselves with the lower-level activities of the cluster operation since these actions are performed by the Manager application. Nonetheless, unusual situations do arise when a command-line approach is to be preferred; for example, a prior job is "hung" and the Manager will not accept another job to terminate the first.
Another circumstance when the command-line utilities may be preferred is when a number of similar changes need be made and a scripted solution would be less burdensome than a Manager session.
Scope
The intended audience is system administrators who need to manipulate components of an Oracle VM cluster, without relying on the Oracle VM Manager application.
