Oracle VM: How To Change Hostname or IP Address of Oracle VM Manager Host or Oracle VM Server (Doc ID 1595344.1)

Last updated on JULY 10, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.0.1 and later
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 5.5 to Oracle Linux 6.4 [Release OL5U5 to OL6U4]
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86-64
Linux x86

Goal

Making basic infrastructure changes to an Oracle VM cluster, such as changing a hostname or an IP adress, requires more than a simple change to an /etc/hosts or ifcfg-* file. Such metadata as this is stored in various places on different parts of the cluster, so this maintenance action requires that the changes be made in those places in the order described below.
