Last updated on MAY 26, 2021

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.0.1 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 5.0 and later
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Goal

It may be desirable to perform a "yum" upgrade using resources from an ISO instead of physically booting the ISO. For example, if a server is unattended and has no internet access. This document demonstrates how to create a web-enabled yum repository from an ISO.

Oracle VM documentation lists methods of upgrading an OVM Server ("OVS")
- from a YUM Repository
- booting from ISO media

Building yum repositories can be complex. A simpler solution is offered here.
