Symptoms

As part of a service outage, all running VM guests are migrated off their current server. That server is then brought down and rebooted some time later. The VM guests cannot be migrated back to the original server.

In the AdminServer log:

com.oracle.ovm.mgr.api.exception.FailedOperationException: OVMAPI_4010E Attempt to send command: discover_server to server: XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX failed. OVMAPI_4004E Server Failed Command: discover_server , Status: org.apache.xmlrpc.XmlRpcException: exceptions.TypeError:rpmdb open failed

Changes

After all running VM guests are migrated to another server, the original server is shutdown and later is restarted.
