Printing Through Samba Printers Result in Intermittent Error "Connection Failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME" (Doc ID 1909816.1)

Intermittent error "Connection failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME" is observed when printing through Samba printers in var/log/messages file. Also, Users need to enter samba username and password to overcome the issue,  even though the authentication parameter in printer.conf is set as none [ AuthInfoRequired=none ]. Periodically this value changes and stays configured for authentication with user and password ("AuthInfoRequired username,password").

To identify the issue, run audit on printer.conf and check the user or process which accesses or modifies the file. Running an audit shows the output as follows:
