Oracle VM - Windows Guest with PV Driver not recognizing correct disk size (Doc ID 1946644.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 19, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.0.1 and later
Linux x86-64
Linux x86

Symptoms

The virtual disk size is not correctly recognized by the Windows guest OS.  For example, you created the virtual disk of 2.5TB size using Oracle VM Manager and assigned it to the virtual machine with Windows; however, when you see the disk from the guest OS, it is recognized as the disk size of only 500GB.  If you make it smaller, like 1TB, it is recognized its size correctly.

When you uninstall PV Driver from the guest OS, this issue does not occur, although this is not a supported configuration.

Changes

You are installing Windows PV Driver 3.0.1 or earlier.
