Last updated on FEBRUARY 02, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
Oracle Traffic Director is in use on the VM guests, but this issue is not exclusive to use of OFD.

Symptoms

This issue impacts Exalogic Dom0 servers using the Infiniband SDP protocol and occurs more frequently on servers under load.

Networking starts to slow down, then OOM killer kicks in killing processes to free memory, ultimately causing system to hang, requiring a reboot. The logs similar to the following can be seen in /var/log/messages:

Oswatcher slabinfo data shows steady growth in the size-192 slab counter indicating a memory leak of that size slab allocation. This ultimately leads to an Out Of Memory (OOM) condition.
