Oracle VM Server Not Able to Join Pool During Rolling Upgrade From Oracle VM 3.2 To Oracle VM 3.3 (Doc ID 1956436.1)

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 to 3.3.1 [Release OVM32 to OVM33]
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later


While upgrade Oracle VM 3.2.x to Oracle VM 3.3.x, VM Manager had already been upgraded, but only part of VM Server nodes (dom0) upgraded.

Under some situation, some VM Server failed join to the pool.

Restart ovmm service could not help.

The VM Server may being showed as "Unknown" server, clean up the server by removing agent db and OCFS2 cluster configuration (The operation is not encouraged hence details will not be elaborated here.) then discover server again, it also could not help.

Attempt any activity on VM Manager and below error message is displayed:



During upgrade, while not all VM Servers been upgraded, added new VM Server into pool, or shutdown/remove existing VM Servers from pool.
