The command "du" is ordinarily used to calculate the files or directores on a file system and help to quickly determinate which occupies the most of the disk spaces.
But it does not apply for following situation:
- a file system have some mounted file systems on its sub-directories
- The files and directories under the sub-directories are hidden by some other mounted file systems (i.e /var and /usr on root "/" file system)
This document shows how to use 'du' in such configuration.
