How to use automatically partitioned disk space for general purpose use on Oracle VM server? (Doc ID 1995441.1)

Goal

How can I use the space on my Oracle VM server that has been partitioned and mapped by device mapper as /dev/mapper/OVM_SYS_REPO_PART_as a general-purpose filesystem instead of as a local storage repository. It is not available at boot to mount from /etc/fstab.
