[PCA 2.x] Upgrading Fails if root Login via SSH Service has been Disabled (Doc ID 2035876.1)

Last updated on MAY 22, 2024

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 1.0.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

If management node root login via ssh is disabled, the upgrade step ("ovca-updater -m update -s") will fail. The log file "/tmp/install.log" would have an error message "Unable to open file handle" or "Failed to get time from Master".

Changes

This problem arises if the customer has disabled root login via ssh, by setting "PermitRootLogin" to "no" /etc/ssh/sshd_config.
