Last updated on SEPTEMBER 18, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.8 and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux x86
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

After adding 104 or more virtual disks to a paravirtualized virtual machine (PVM), then booting the virtual machine (VM) with an Oracle UEK2, UEK3, or UEK4 kernel, the VM not recognize all the disks and will lose network connectivity.

Failure to start the VM is shown in the OVM Manager host AdminServer.log file:

In the case of a PVM guest running the Red Hat Compatible Kernel (RHCK) the VM may suffer same issue of recognizing 100+ virtual disks.
