Oracle VM - Repurposing the Disk Partition Created by the Oracle VM Server Installation for possible Core Dumps of Virtual Machines (Doc ID 2061019.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 13, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

On Oracle VM, 3.X.X - During installation of an Oracle VM server, some of the space is reserved for the / , /boot and swap partitions. A single partition is created for the free space remaining, which can either be used as a repository that will be local to the Oracle VM Server or re-purposed. A very valid re-purpose is to format that file system and mount it under /var/xen/dump for potential Virtual Machines crash VM storage, and use a shared repository to store the actual virtual machines.
