Oracle VM 3.4.X: OOM while Creating 63 VFs, Using mlx4_core with Dom0 Default Memory (Doc ID 2103185.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 20, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.3.3 and later
Linux x86-64

On Oracle VM 3.4.1 allocating default memory of 2646MB (dom0_mem=max:2784M) and creating max allowed 63 VFs leads to out of memory and system reboot.

1. With less num of VFs like 16 , it works fine. i.e. OOM is not observed.

2. After increasing memory to 5568MB (dom0_mem=max:5568M via xen command line), it worked fine and max allowed 63 VFs could be created properly.
