O3L 2.0: Restarting the docker service fails during Node's Preparation for Oracle OpenStack installation (Doc ID 2112849.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle OpenStack for Oracle Linux - Version OpenStack 2.0.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

On Oracle Openstack for Oracle Linux, when following the installation guide, the user gets asked to restart the docker service using systemctl at step 9 of the installation e.g. :

$ sudo systemctl restart docker.service

However, this fails with :

job for docker.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See "systemctl status docker.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

Looking at the recommended commands output, there is not a lot of information available :

# systemctl status docker.service
● docker.service - Docker Application Container Engine

Drop-In: /etc/systemd/system/docker.service.d
