Goal
This document describes how to change the machine-id of an Oracle Linux 7 system.
- The machine-id parameter is added from Oracle Linux 7.1 onwards to be able to uniquely identify a system within the network. Naturally, it's value must be unique.
- When an OL7 system is cloned, the cloned system's machine-id value is not automatically changed, therefore duplicate systems exist within the network.
- Every system must have a unique machine-id value.
