How to Configure 'kdump' for Oracle VM 3.4.x
(Doc ID 2142488.1)
Last updated on OCTOBER 04, 2022
Applies to:
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and laterOracle VM - Version 3.4.1 and later
Linux x86-64
Goal
If a physical Oracle VM Server ("OVS") encounters a server-wide problem (e.g. panic, oops, unresponsive etc.) the system memory dump ("vmcore") from dom0 would likely be required for problem analysis. To be able to get a useful vmcore dump, a proper kdump service configuration needs to be established. As required, this will cause a system memory dump from the dom0. It does not dump any system memory from guest VMs.
