OVM 3.4.1 Server Cannot Join Pool Cluster After Update To or From Kernel 4.1.12-37.5.1.el6uek (Doc ID 2156346.1)

Last updated on MARCH 08, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle VM - Version 3.4.1 to 3.4.1 [Release OVM34]
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

The OVM Server ("OVS") cannot join the cluster. The poolfilesystem cannot be mounted.

The /var/log/messages file shows message:

kernel: [  776.190472] o2net: node <node name, ip address:port> Advertised net protocol version 11 but 12 is required. Disconnecting.

Note: this problem does not affect OVM Pools that only have one OVS.

The OVS cannot rejoin the active cluster and mount ocfs2 resources

Note: this will also affect pool filesystems on nfs resources as they are actually ocfs2 volumes mounted inside the nfs mount

Changes

Maintenance has been applied to an OVS node; after reboot the node is running kernel 4.1.12-37.5.1.el6uek
