New Compute Nodes Fail To Provision To PCA 2.0.5 once PCA 2.1.1 update has been loaded (Doc ID 2157867.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 04, 2016

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.0.5 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

While running Private Cloud Appliance ( PCA ), the upgrade files have already been downloaded to the system but not yet applied. Shortly before completing the PCA 2.1.1 upgrade process, a provisioning of an additional node runnig PCA 2.0.5 level is attempted, however the provisioning process for new nodes hangs at 40% through completion. In the OVCA admin UI, the following status in the rack schematic is shown for several hours:

Rack Unit 12
Name ovcacn12r1
General State initializing_stage_wait_for_ovm
State Explanation Waiting for OracleVM Server provisioning to complete.
Mac Address 00:10:11:12:13:14
IP Address 192.168.4.110
Progress 40 %

Eventually, provisioning will fail with the status show as:

Rack Unit 12
Name ovcacn12r1
General State dead
State Explanation The server has failed final provisioning of networking or OVM components.
Mac Address 00:10:11:12:13:14
