Symptoms

In the NIS service, there is a continuous connection refused error message from the NIS master server at message log.

From /var/log/messages in NIS master and NIS slaves, can see huge errors like "refused connect from XXX:XX:XX:XX:XXX to procedure ypproc_match (<host>,shadow.byname;-1)":
