Oracle Linux 6: Why lsof shows "can't identify protocol"
Last updated on DECEMBER 15, 2016
Applies to:Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.7 and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.
For processes like ntpd, udev etc, lsof shows the output "can't identify protocol", even when /proc/net/sockstat doesn't show any orphans or any TIME_WAIT and "netstat" doesn't show any CLOSE_WAIT.
Both test runs were done with ntpd, udev, auditd services running.
