CPU Affinity After Live Migration of Virtual Machine on NUMA Systems
Last updated on FEBRUARY 12, 2017
Applies to:Oracle VM - Version 3.2.1 to 3.4.2 [Release OVM32 to OVM34]
By default, a VM guest starts up with vCPUs limited in one NUMA node.
After a live migration of a virtual machine between two servers with NUMA architecture, the CPU affinity is set to "any CPU" over all NUMA nodes.
As a result, the migrated virtual machine uses memory across multiple nodes, which degrades performance of the virtual machine.
