Oracle Linux: package-cleanup Command Fails to Remove UEK kernels (Doc ID 2251330.1)

Last updated on AUGUST 03, 2023

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.0 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [2.6.32] and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

Normally running  "package-cleanup --oldkernels --count=2" purges any more than 2 kernels from the system. However this command does not work with UEK kernels.

This gives the steps to purge old UEK kernels.
