Purpose

When the operating system kernel has a problem, it's not simple to determine the cause for that malfunction. Fortunately Linux provides several utilities for getting inside the OS and getting much informations about the state of operating system.This note explains necessary steps to gather debug information. It shows which commands can be used, how to collect information and which data is needed.Most instructions and commands could be to use for all Linux distributions and are not Oracle Linux specific.
