 This Note outlines steps which can be used to try to troubleshoot issues one may have restoring simple names after a database re-generation as the one exposed in Note 2224820.1 for Private Cloud Appliance ( Similar notes exist for generic Oracle VM Manager).

It may happen that the OVM Model dump is corrupted or incomplete - This note explains different angles of approach to troubleshoot cases when the restore operation fails to restore part of or all simple names.
