PCA: UUID Within OVMM Manager UI Help Differs From UUID in .config and ovmm Files on the Management Nodes (Doc ID 2278054.1)

Last updated on JULY 10, 2017

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 1.1.3 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) is a engineered system comprising of Management- and Compute Nodes, Xsigo switches and an internal ZFFSA.
It is used for virtualisation and uses Oracle VM to monitor/administrate parts of the environment.

The UUID within the OVMM Manager (as seen in the UI "Help/About") - is different to the UUID reported in the ovmm and .config files on the Management Nodes.

For example, in Oracle VM Manager the UI "Help/About" might report a value such as :

0004fb000001000051d1eced8475640e

whereas other resources report it differently, e.g.:

- on managemment nodes  ovcamn05r1/06r1:

# cat /nfs/shared_storage/conf/UUID
0004fb00000100005fab9898ad972da5

[root@ovcamn05r1 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/ovmm
<..>
UUID=0004fb00000100005fab9898ad972da5
[root@ovcamn06r1 ~]# cat /etc/sysconfig/ovmm
<..>
UUID=0004fb00000100005fab9898ad972da5
[root@ovcamn05r1 ~]# cat /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/.config
<..>
UUID=0004fb00000100005fab9898ad972da5
[root@ovcamn06r1 ~]# cat /u01/app/oracle/ovm-manager-3/.config
<..>
UUID=0004fb00000100005fab9898ad972da5
