[ PCA ] Provisioning or Reprovisioning a compute node with more than 128 VLANs fails at step "initializing_stage_config_networks" (Doc ID 2281832.1)

Last updated on JULY 14, 2020

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.0.5 and later
Linux x86-64

On Oracle Private Cloud Appliance, when making use of an unusually large number of VLAN's on a given tenant group, provisioning or reprovisioning a compute node fails at stage initializing_stage_config_networks consistently.

Note that having more than 128 VLANs for a given tenant group is above the configuration maximums documented here :

See : "VLANs per Server Pool" in the bottom array.

The /var/log/ovca.log of the active management node records as last lines before marking node dead in this scenario :

[2017-06-28 12:10:19 2426521] ERROR (ovm:101) Failed to run ovm_shell script in 1800 seconds.
[2017-06-28 12:10:19 2426521] ERROR (nodestateserver:432) Failed to initialize network: vm_private, on OVMM.
[2017-06-28 12:10:19 2426521] ERROR (utils:145) Error running configure initial OVM networks. ILOM MAC: 00:10:e0:c4:b0:53. Marking node as dead.
[2017-06-28 12:10:19 2426521] DEBUG (nodestateserver:883) DEAD node: ilom 00:10:e0:c4:b0:53. Last good state: initializing_stage_config_networks

Re-submitting a reprovisioning task yields the same result.

Relevant line here being :

[2017-06-28 12:10:19 2426521] ERROR (ovm:101) Failed to run ovm_shell script in 1800 seconds.
