Forward Traffic Is Not Working On Docker Container When Accessing it From Outside The Docker Host Server, Connection Is Refused (Doc ID 2291764.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 07, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Version N/A and later
Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.7 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [4.1.12] and later
Linux x86-64

When trying to access a application running on the  a Docker container (NGINX in this case) from an external Server using the forwarded port 8080  on the Docker server  and port 80 on the container, the connection is not established as expected while the FIREWALLD service is running.

This is the error:

If the FIREWALLD service is stopped as a workaround, the connection can be established properly without any issue.

This behaviour indicates a rule that is blocking/dropping the forwarded traffic to the container and because of this the connection is not successful.
