Sosreport Hangs Oracle VM Server After Upgrade to 3.4.4

After upgrading an Oracle VM server to 3.4.4, running sosreport hangs while processing the ovm3 plugin.


[root@test ~]# sosreport

sosreport (version 3.2)

This command will collect diagnostic and configuration information from
this Oracle Linux system and installed applications.

An archive containing the collected information will be generated in
/tmp/sos.KThLnW and may be provided to a Oracle USA support

Any information provided to Oracle USA will be treated in accordance

The server hangs for around 30 minutes and then recovers

It is possible to see soft lockup errors in the /var/log/messages file and in the console of the Oracle VM Sever:

This is affected package is the default installed with 3.4.4:

Note: The issue may or may not be present in your environment, a lot of variables can play here to produce or not the issue.



 Upgrade the Oracle VM Servers to 3.4.4
