Starting VM Fails with Error "Caught during invoke method: com.oracle.ovm.mgr.api.exception.IllegalOperationException: OVMAPI_2005E [VirtualMachineDbImpl] contains a component xxx in error" (Doc ID 2329213.1)

Symptoms

One specific VM was running on an Oracle VM server which had hardware issue.

When start this VM on another running good Oracle VM server, it failed with the error below:

AdminServer.log:
<Error> <ovm.mgr.api.exception.FormatException> <ovm.mgr.api.exception.IllegalOperationException: OVMAPI_2005E "[VirtualMachineDbImpl] "xxx" a<21903> (VM_NAME)" contains a component "xxx" in error. Error event: vm.error.offline., Summary: Virtual Machine is Offline, Description: Server: "XXX", is Offline. [Sun Nov 12 15:12:11 COT 2017]

 

Changes

 One of the Oracle VM server  went down cause by  hardware issue and a VM without HA was trying to be started up on a working OVS server in the pool
