Symptoms

An Oracle database (any version) running on an Oracle Linux 6 or 7 system running as a Windows Hyper-V or Microsoft Azure guest Virtual Machine (VM) may experience random database redo log corruption.
The database alert.log reports such corruptions e.g.:

Affected databases may be using either Oracle ASM or datafiles on regular Linux filesystems e.g. EXT3/4, XFS, etc.

Changes

The Oracle database is running on Oracle Linux 6/7 running as a Windows Hyper-V or Microsoft Azure guest Virtual Machine (VM).
