Symptoms
- Bridge interface fails to come up during server boot-up with the following error:
Bringing up interface XX: Bridge support not available in this kernel
[FAILED]
- Ethool on the underlying physical interface shows the following:
ethtool -i ethX
Loading kernel module for a network device with CAP_SYS_MODULE (deprecated). Use CAP_NET_ADMIN and alias netdev-eth0 instead
Cannot get driver information: No such device
- Manually starting the device using "ifup" after booting works fine.
Changes
Following lines were removed from /etc/modprobe.conf
