Last updated on AUGUST 04, 2018
Applies to:Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.0 to Oracle Linux 6.9 [Release OL6 to OL6U9]
nfslock service cannot be started, /var/log/messages includes the error line like:
Mar 1 09:49:27 hostname rpc.statd: failed to create RPC listeners, exiting
In this case, mounting NFS exports as NFS clinet fails as:
# mount -t nfs hostname:/nfsexport /somewhere
mount.nfs: rpc.statd is not running but is required for remote locking.
mount.nfs: Either use '-o nolock' to keep locks local, or start statd.
mount.nfs: an incorrect mount option was specified
