[ PCA ] How to Detect Password Mismatches During PCA Operation and Upgrades
(Doc ID 2379637.1)
Last updated on SEPTEMBER 23, 2020
Applies to:
Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.2.1 and laterLinux x86-64
Goal
The "Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) 2.1.1 / 2.2.x Pre-Upgrade Checklist and Guidance (Doc ID 2138663.1)" documents that the passwords stored in the "Oracle wallet" must match the actual passwords used in the servers in the PCA rack.
the passwords in the wallet are used by the PCA software.
- passwords changed outside the PCA Authentication dashboard will cause unpredictable problems, especially during upgrade and maintenance operations.
- normal operation may also be affected
- if the password in the wallet is not the actual password of the component, this means that the password or the wallet has been altered outside of the PCA authentication dashboard.
A script "verify_pw.py" is provided with that document to verify the passwords as an attachment to that document
Note:
The script is not official Oracle software. It is provided "as is" to verify that the passwords of various hardware and software components of a PCA system match with those saved in the "wallet" of the OVM Manager weblogic component.
There are no plans to enhance the "verify_pw.py" script.
