[ PCA 2.3.x Upgrade ] Preupgrade Fails with "Failed to check the ethernet cards on xms: Unsupported IO card population: The card None in slot None on IO director is not expected." (Doc ID 2389126.1)

Last updated on APRIL 22, 2018

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.1.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

On Oracle Private Cloud Appliance, when attempting to ugprade to Private Cloud Appliance release 2.3.1 or higher, there are several pre-checks being carried before the actual upgrade.

One of the pre-checks fails with a strange error message :

[04/20/2018 08:20:37 35908] INFO (upgrade_utils:1212) [Ethernet Cards Check] FAILED: The check failed on xms.
Failed to check the ethernet cards on xms: Unsupported IO card population: The card None in slot None on IO director is not expected..

However, as opposed to the situation described in Note 2287985.1 the iocards in the Fabrics Interconnects are the default ones :
