[ PCA/OVM ] Compute Node Lost "InfiniBox" LUN Mappings After Upgrade of Compute Node from OVS 3.2.x to 3.4.x (Doc ID 2397036.1)

Last updated on JULY 14, 2020

Applies to:

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.3.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Device-mapper-multipath does not discover (thrid-party vendor) "InfiniBox" devices - no "dm-xx" devices or /dev/mapper aliases are shown on compute nodes upgraded from PCA <=2.2.2

All paths (/dev/sdXX devices) to InfiniBox disk systems are recognized correctly in /proc/partitions.

However "multipath -ll" shows no corresponding device mapper devices (dm-xx) to InfiniBox LUNs.

System log shows no errors from multipathd.

The problem only occurred after upgrading the affected Compute Nodes. There was no such problem prior to the upgrade (from PCA 2.2 to 2.3.2)

A new installed/provisioned PCA 2.3.2 (OVS 3.4.4) Compute Node shows the same InfiniBox device-mapper devices without issue.

Upgrade of PCA from 2.2 to 2.3.2
