Purpose

This paper guides the reader through a step-by-step process for installing, configuring and validating EMC PowerPath on Oracle VM 3.4 servers using either iSCSI or Fibre Channel storage protocols. The paper also describes the initial steps needed within Oracle VM Manager to discover and utilize multipath LUNs managed by EMC PowerPath on Oracle VM severs.

Scope

This document was written specifically for Oracle VM 3.4.4 and has not been tested with earlier or later versions of Oracle VM. Oracle encourages customers to upgrade from Oracle VM 3.2 and 3.3 to the latest version of Oracle VM 3.4 to take advantage of a richer set of features that come with Oracle VM 3.4.

The Oracle VM servers must not be discovered by Oracle VM Manager until EMC PowerPath is installed and configured. Discovering Oracle VM servers with EMC PowerPath enabled is the last step of the installation process
