[PCA 2.x] Bootup Compute Node with Console Error "Could not open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0" and "RESULT: ILOM not supported on this system" (Doc ID 2415410.1)

Private Cloud Appliance - Version 2.1.1 and later
Linux x86-64

Symptoms

On Private Cloud Appliance (PCA) - All releases upgrading to 2.3.x.

After a compute node ugprade has been triggered with a command such as :

PCA> update compute-node ovcacn09r1

The upgrade seems successful :

Successfully upgraded the following compute nodes: ['ovcacn09r1']
Status: Success

However during the reboot of the compute node after upgrade, the console prints :

Starting Oracle Server HMP watchdog agent: [ OK ]
Starting Oracle Server Hardware Management Agent: Could not open device at /dev/ipmi0 or /dev/ipmi/0 or /dev/ipmidev/0: No such file or directory
RESULT: ILOM not supported on this system
[FAILED]
OSMD started
Starting OVM console server: [ OK ]
Starting ovmport daemon: [ OK ]
