Symptoms
The local host has been configured to use the Postfix mail transfer agent. A relay server is used to perform the mail routing function.
- A username and password has been configured in the /etc/postfix/sasl_passwd file for credentials to the relay host:
The SASL authentication error is the more important error here. The meaning is that the local Postfix mail agent could not connect to the mail agent on the relay hosemail alay host. Since the hosts could not successfully connect, no information was exchanged. The second error explains the failure in terms of an email transfer.
