Yum/RPM Update Fails with Error unpacking of archive failed on file <File_path> cpio rename (Doc ID 2491249.1)

Symptoms

Yum update fails for some RPM  with below error:

Error unpacking rpm package <RPM>
error: unpacking of archive failed on file <FILE NAME>: cpio: rename
<RPM> was supposed to be removed but is not!

E.g.,

# yum update chkconfig*
Loaded plugins: langpacks, rhnplugin
This system is receiving updates from Spacewalk server.
