Oracle Linux: Black Gnome-Shell Screen After Upgrading With Only The YUM Security Option (Doc ID 2520404.1)

Symptoms

After upgrading with command below, Gnome shows only a black screen and a mouse cursor. The following entry can be found in /var/log/messages:

yum -y update --security
