Kubernetes upgrade from 1.9 to 1.12 fails using kubeadm-upgrade (Doc ID 2533781.1)

Symptoms



ACTUAL BEHAVIOR
---------------
When trying to upgrade Kubernetes from 1.9 to 1.12, the upgrade shows success, but actually did not complete properly.

After the upgrade older versions are still seen.

 $ kubectl get nodes$ kubectl get nodes
NAME STATUS ROLES AGE VERSION
<hostname>.oracle.com Ready <none> 29m v1.9.11+2.2.1.el7
<hostname>.oracle.com NotReady master 35m v1.10.5+2.2.4.el7
<hostname>.oracle.com Ready <none> 26m v1.9.11+2.2.1.el7


EXPECTED BEHAVIOR

upgrade should occur as documented in User's Guide.
