Symptoms

Not able to mount the Windows 2012 R2(build is 6.3.9600 Build (9600)) cifs shares on Oracle linux 6 running uek2 kernel.

[root@hostname ~]# uname -a
Linux hostname 2.6.39-400.297.10.el6uek.x86_64 #1 SMP Thu Sep 28 19:15:51 PDT 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
[root@hostname ~]# mount.cifs //x.x.x.x/test_backups /source_BACKUPS -o credentials=/root/.testing_regis,uid=oracle,gid=dba
mount error(112): Host is down
Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs)

[root@hostname~]# dmesg
CIFS VFS: cifs_mount failed w/return code = -112
[root@hostname ~]#
