Install and Configure OSWatcher as a RPM on Oracle Linux (Doc ID 2560609.1)

Last updated on OCTOBER 05, 2020

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 6.0 and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

Install OSwatcher on oracle linux via RPM.

Oracle support often recommends that the OSWatcher Black Box(*) tool be run for an extended period.  Should the system reboot during this time, the system administrator must manually restart the OSWatche Black Box, and allow it to run until the necessary data have been collected.

* NOTE: For more information about OSWatcherBB, please see Document 1531223.1 OS Watcher User's Guide

For Oracle Linux 6/7, we provide a RPM package, named oswatcher, to collect same diagnostic data.

This oswatcher RPM package is independent from OSWatcher Black Box tool.

After installing it, you can run oswatcher as a standard service on Oracle Linux to collect the required runtime data (like ps, top, netstat etc).
