Symptoms

An Oracle Linux 7 virtual guest server hosted on an Oracle VM  Server (a hypervisor using Xen virtualization) reports a resource temporarily unavailable error, with the following errors seen in the OS system log:

Jul 10 09:43:59 <hostname> ksmtuned: /usr/sbin/ksmtuned: fork: retry: No child processes
Jul 10 09:44:07 <hostname> ksmtuned: /usr/sbin/ksmtuned: fork: Resource temporarily unavailable
Jul 10 09:44:07 <hostname> ksmtuned: /usr/sbin/ksmtuned: line 102: [: too many arguments
Jul 10 09:44:07 <hostname> ksmtuned: /usr/sbin/ksmtuned: line 108: [: -lt: unary operator expected
