VMware VM Boot with Error: "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!" After Importing the OVA File from Oracle VM Environment (Doc ID 2570512.1)

Symptoms

Export a virtual guest server to virtual appliance (ova) files on the Oracle VM environment by following the Oracle product document.
Then, migrate the exported ova files to the VMware environment and power on the virtual guest server on VMware.
The Linux boot is stuck with the error message - "Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!".

There are the following detailed boot error messages on the screen:

* Mounting /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 on /sysroot
mount: mounting /dev/VolGroup00/LogVol00 on /sysroot failed: No such device
mount: mounting /dev on /sysroot/dev failed: no such file or directory
* Switching / to /sysroot
switching_root: bad newroot /sysroot
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
