Last updated on JUNE 12, 2024

Applies to:

Linux OS - Version Oracle Linux 7.6 with Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel [4.14.35] and later
Linux x86-64

Goal

This document will guide the user on how to perform Storage Live Migration.

Prerequisite: Please ensure you have at least two Storage Domain (e.g. FC-Domain, iSCSI-Domain and/or NFS-Domain) in your DataCenter Cluster.

NOTE:

1. Storage migration is offered as a flexible solution once storage demands outgrow original Storage Domain design, it is not a feature to move around disks on a regular basis.
2. It is always recommended to use offline storage migration over live unless absolutely necessary.
3. A valid Backup and Restore Solution for the target Virtual Machine (VM) is highly recommended prior to live storage migrate it due to known catastrophic issues like the one described in (Doc ID 2832296.1). For more information about the OLVM Backup and Restore Solution, please refer to this KM Document (Doc ID 2677830.1).
