Exalogic - NIS Slave doesn't Sync Automatically with NIS Server

Symptoms
An Exalogic NIS slave doesn't sync automatically with the NIS master, which results in authentication failures on NIS clients using NIS SLAVE as an authentication server.
The following messages were recorded in the logs on the NIS client at the same time as when the sync failure occurred:
