Purpose

This document’s purpose is to describe the PCA upgrader tool’s prerequisites, usage, and workarounds. 

Scope

This document explains the basic usage of the PCA Upgrader tool shipped with PCA 2.4.2 and also lists known issues and workarounds.

 1. Download and install (or upgrade to) the latest version of pca_upgrader
 2. Run the pre-upgrade verification
 3. Manual pre-upgrade checks
 3.1. Verify the WebLogic password
 3.2. Verify no External Storage LUNs on Management Nodes
 3.3. Check for customized inet settings on MNs
 3.4. Collect the number of objects in the MySQL database
 3.5. Verify management node failover
 3.6. Verify the NFS protocol for the internal ZFSSA
 3.7. Check for hardware faults on all components
 4. Run the upgrade
 4.1 Run the upgrade of the non-primary management node
 4.2 Run the upgrade of the other management node
 4.3 Upgrade compute node one by one
 5. Manual post-upgrade checks
