Symptoms

Frequent warning messages logged in /var/log/messages for ethX:

Mar 13 15:06:26 ovcamn06r1 kernel: [ 528.934042] xcpm_check_duplicate_names !!Warning!! NIC eth6 is already present in system
Mar 13 15:06:26 ovcamn06r1 kernel: [ 529.048455] xve_xsmp_install Duplicate name eth6

Status of vnic from Xsigo Switch shows "up/indeterminate"

ssh as admin to Xsigo Switch where the vnic is configured.

For ethX interfaces, this is ovcasw15r1 (or 192.168.4.204), for ethXB interfaces, this is ovcasw22r1 (or 192.168.4.205):

# ssh admin@ovcasw15r1 
admin@ovcasw15r1[xsigo] show vnic eth6.ovcamn06r1
eth6.ovcamn06r1 up/indeterminate XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX 0.0.0.0/32 vm_private(45661) up 0 hostManaged none -- -b----

eth1 and eth6 are used as an example in this context.
